Seize The Birthday - Embossing

Hello friends.  It is time for a new challenge at Seize the Birthday and Jenny would like to see embossing on our birthday cards.  If you are not into our "Topping" option, the only requirement is that it has to be for a birthday.

I used some old and new products on my card.  The old is the SU Heirloom Frames Dies.  I die cut the oval frame and then embossed it with the matching embossing folder.  The Balmy Blue panel is embossed with SU Cross-Hatch EF.  I added foam tape strips under the frame and mounted it to the blue panel.  I stamped the sentiment from Gina K. Designs Elegant Thoughts (beautiful fonts in this set) on the oval cut out and glued it in the center of the frame.  The flower images are from Gina K. Designs Flower Medley (love this set and have been using it a lot).  After stamping them, I colored with SU Balmy Blue and Soft Sea Foam Green Blends.  I die cut them and arranged them around the oval frame.  For the final touch, I added black dimensional dots to the centers of the flowers.

I will link to the Triple B Challenge

Hop over and check out all the inspiration by the team using embossing on their cards.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  Have a wonderful day.

Herd It's Your Birthday

I made this card for a friend who's birthday is tomorrow.  They have quite a few cows so I usually try to make a fun card with cows.

I used a new to me set from Sweet n' Sassy Stamps called Down on the Farm.  I stamped the barn, fence, and two cows and then colored them with alcohol markers.  I cut them with the matching dies and laid them aside to decide on how to display them.  I cut a white panel 4" x 5 1/4"  and blended Salty Ocean DOI for the sky and Rustic Wilderness DOI for the ground.  I stamped the grass with the same ink.  I placed the die cut fence along the blended line and then glued the barn over them.  I mounted the two cows with foam tape to the right side.  I stamped the sentiment on a white strip and then mounted it with foam tape.  I really like how it turned out.

I don't know if the sentiment is considered "snarky" but will link to AAA Birthday.

and to Darnell's NBUS as this is the first time using this set.

Thanks for stopping by.  Have a wonderful day.

Noel for FMS #702

Hello friends.  I am working on getting Christmas cards done and I thought the sketch at FMS would look good with a poinsettia for the circle element and the 2 leaves for the other elements.  This is what I came up with.

I embossed a white panel with Spellbinders Holly & Foliage EF and glued it to the white card base.  The poinsettia is made with Concord & 9th Festive Blooms Dies with lt. pink card from my stash.  I blended a little pink ink to the centers.  I just used the individual dies and layered the poinsettia for a fuller bloom.  The leaves are cut with dies from SU Poinsettia Petals (ret.) as is the silver foil center on the poinsettia.  Noel is cut using Simon Hurley Handwritten Holiday Sentiments from Spellbinders.  I cut the top layer from white and the mat from silver foil.  I added little strips of foam for dimension and mounted it. I really like the finished card and may have to make a couple more, maybe with a red poinsettia.

I am linking to Freshly Made Sketches #702.
I will also link to Darnell's NBUS as this is the first time I have used these two die sets.

I realized it is Die Week at Darnell's IDEAS so will share this there also.

Happy Birthday

Hello friends.  I have a new birthday card to share today.  I saw several challenges that I was inspired by so I made a card that fit all 4 of them.

ETA:  My card was chosen as A Cut Above at The Paper Players.

This is my first time using Altenew's Cute Open Rose die.  I die cut the flowers and leaves from white and blended SU Pumpkin Pie and Calypso Coral on the flower layers and Rustic Wilderness DOI on the leaves.  I glued the layers together and added the centers cut from Crumb Cake and colored the bottom layer with a brown marker.  The white circle was cut with a stitched circle die and embossed with SU Subtle EF (ret.) for a little texture.  After gluing the circle to the Soft Succulent card panel (Tasteful Textile EF), I glued the flowers and leaves to the circle element.  The sentiment is cut twice with Poppy Stamps Happy Birthday Poe Script die.  I layered them for a little extra dimension.  I really love the finished card.

First is The Paper Players Tic Tac Toe Challenge - the center row down.

and The Flower Challenge - sketch challenge

and to JUGS challenge - die week #791

A Lovely Birthday

Hello friends.  I made a new birthday card after I saw the Tic Tac Toe Challenge board.

I used the top row across - Stencil, Birthday, Die Cut, but it also fits the left row down - Stencil, Blue, Stripes (stripes in the stencil).

I used a new frame die from Papertrey Ink - Reflections: John I cut from white.  I used a Spellbinders stencil and SUTahitian Tide ink on the card base so it would show through the frame openings.  The flowers and sentiment are from an older Altenew set - Sakura Blooms.  I die cut the flowers and leaves from white and then stamped the centers of the flowers with Tahitian Tide ink.  I blended a little ink around the edges of the petals, shaped the petals with my fingers, and then added a rhinestone to the centers.  I stamped the leaves with Old Olive and then blended some ink on them.  I stamped the sentiment on the center cut out and glued it back in the frame after gluing the frame to the card base.  I glued the flowers and leaves in opposite corners and then added some rhinestones colored with an alcohol marker.

I will also add this to the Triple B Challenge.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  Have a wonderful day.

Happy Stamping,
JoAnn

Seize the Birthday - Black and White

Hello friends.  It is time for our new challenge at Seize the Birthday and Linda wants to see our birthday cards in Black and White.  Of course it can always be Anything Goes for a birthday.

I used two black & white pattern papers from my stash, glued them together and added to a thin black mat, then mounted on my white card base.  The flower from Gina K. Designs Wishful Florals was stamped in Versafine Onyx Black ink and die cut with the matching die.  I added strips of foam tape to the back and then added it to the center of the black/white dotted paper.  The sentiment is from an older SU set, cut and added with glue and foam tape.  A quick and simple card but I think it looks elegant in black and white.  Thanks Linda for a fun challenge.

We are glad to welcome a new team member to STB - Nance Salked.  Glad to have you joining us Nance.

Be sure to check out all the inspiration by the DT and our party guests over at Seize the Birthday.

Blue and Red Birthday Card

Hello friends.  I have a new birthday card to share today.   I made this one for a little one at church who is turning two.

The images are from SSS Party Like A Panda. I stamped them in Versafine Onyx Black ink and colored them with SU Azure Afternoon and Real Read Blends.  The horn is colored with a Zig Gold marker.  I die cut the Panda and the Happy balloons with the matching dies and fussy cut Birthday.  The white oval and red frame are cut using SU Impressions Abloom dies.  I also used SU Pattern of Friendship Die on the white oval and then glued the red frame around it.  Then I used  The Greetery Stencils and SU Azure Afternoon ink on the background panel and added it to the Azure Afternoon card base.  I glued the oval on and then mounted the images with foam tape.

and to Darnell's NBUS as this is the first time of have used the Pattern Of Friendship Die

and to the Tic Tac Toe Challenge - bottom row across (Red, Stencil, Rectangle Shape-card)

Seize the Birthday - No Flowers

Hello friends.  It is time for a new challenge at Seize the Birthday and Jules has chosen No Flowers for our theme this time..

For my card I used an older butterfly stamp & die set by Stampin Up.  After stamping the butterflies, I colored them with Balmy Blue and Crumb Cake Blends, then die cut them out.  The brick pattern paper was in my stash and I thought it made a good background for the butterflies.  I added a black mat and glued it to the white card base.  I added a 3/4" black strip to the center of the panel and then added the sentiment panel, an older SU set.  I glued the butterflies down in the center and lifted their wings for dimension.  I added small black pearl dots for a little bling.

Be sure to check our the Design Team & our Party Guests cards to see more inspiration without flowers.  I hope to see you in our gallery.

Thanks for stopping by.  Hope you have a wonderful day.

Happy Birthday for A Few Challenges

Hello friends.  I have a new birthday card to share today.

I used a new set from Gina K. Designs, Flower Medley, for the pretty blooms.  After stamping them in Memento Tuxedo Black ink, I colored them with Copic markers and die cut with the matching dies.  I embossed a panel of Pool Party with SU Distressed Tile EF and added it to the white card base.  I then die cut a panel of Lost Lagoon with a stitched rectangle die and white with a smaller stitched rectangle die.  I adhered these two panels together and then adhered them to the card.  I mounted the flowers with foam tape and glued the extra leaves and bud under the edges.  I glued white enamel dots to the centers of the flowers and colored 3 smaller white enamel dots with a Copic marker to match the flowers.  The sentiment is from Gina K. Designs Elegant Thoughts.

I am linking to The Flower Challenge - Add Embellishments

and to Just Us Girls - die week, Florals.

and to the Triple B Challenge - Birds, Blooms, Butterflies (didn't use the inspiration board)

I will also add this to Darnell's IDEAS Challenge - Dies.  This is the first time I have joined and need to do it more often.  Thanks Darnell.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  Have a wonderful day.

Happy Anniversary for Two Challenges

Hello friends.  I saw the new Color Hues Challenge of Pink and Grey so naturally I thought of flowers and the Flower Challenge which wants us to add embellishments.

I used a new to me set from Altenew called Dreamy Dahlias - stamps, dies, and stencils.   It is a large image so I used my SU Stamparatus (ret.) to stamp the image on white.  I used blending brushes, the stencils and SU Bubble Bath, Pretty in Pink, Smokey Slate and Basic Gray inks to color the image.  I then cut it apart to fit on my card (5-1/2 by 4-1/4).  I die cut SSS Double Plaid Cover from white and adhered it to the card base.  I then arranged the flowers like I wanted, sticking the flower stems under the bottom of the die cut and adding foam tape to the flowers and leaves.  I stamped the sentiment in Basic Grey ink and glued it over the flower stems.  I added some Nuvo Jewel Drops, which matched the flowers perfectly, for embellishments. I really like the finished card and it will be going to some good friends for their anniversary.

I will also link to Darnells NBUS as this is the first time I have used the Altenew set.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  Have a wonderful day.

A New Birthday Card

Hello friends.  I was inspired by Trina's beautiful card here (Thank You Trina) and wanted to make a similar card for a friend as I did have some of the Memory Box dies she used and I love the blue color. It is not an exact copy of Trina's but was heavily inspired by her card.

I used SU Boho Blue card and embossed it with SU Timber EF (ret.).  I mounted it to a white card base.  The white panel is cut with Memory Box Fringed Scallop Frame Set using the next to the largest die and mounted with foam tape.  The pretty flower was made using Memory Box Graceful Peony Blossom die.   I cut from Mixed Media paper and blended Faded Jeans and Stormy Sky DOI on them.  I glued them together following the diagram on the package.  It cuts 11 pieces so it was a little tedious to put together.  The leaves were cut from green card stock with another Memory Box die,  I blended a little ink on them for dimension and glued then under the peony blossom which was added with foam tape.  The sentiment is from The Greetery Arched Sentiments.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  Have a wonderful day.

Pink Poinsettias

Hello friends.  I am getting more Christmas cards done and this one is with a different poinsettia frame from Pinkfresh Studios, aptly named Poinsettia Frame.  I used the stamp, die, and stencils and also did it in pink. 😍

ETA:  My card was chosen as the Top Winner at Peace on Earth Challenge.

I used SU Pretty in Pink and Flirty Flamingo inks for the poinsettias and berries, and Soft Sea Foam and Pear Pizzazz inks for the leaves.  After inking and die cutting the frame, I added foam tape to the back and mounted it on a Soft Sea Foam Card base.  I added some gold pearls for a little sparkle.  The sentiment is the same one from an older Recollections set.  I really like this one in pink (hope you do too Michele) and will have to try it in red.

I will add this one to the Stencil Fun Challenge - no flag colors option (my first time playing here).

and to the Peace on Earth Challenge - Anything Christmas

Thanks so much for stopping by.  Have a wonderful day.
